    • 1). Place one of the 12'x12'x'1 pieces of wood on the ground and apply glue around three sides. Place the 18'x12'x1' pieces of wood onto the glue. Attach the other 12'x12'x'1 piece of wood on top of the three 18'x12'x1' pieces of wood with glue.

    • 2). Clamp the corners together until the glue has hardened and all the pieces of wood will stay together without the clamps.

    • 3). Saw out a hole three inches in diameter in the middle of the 18'x12'x1' piece of wood that is not adjacent to another 18'x12'x1' piece of wood.

    • 4). Place glue at the ends of one of the 11'x1'x1' pieces of wood, and attach the two 18'x1'x1' pieces of wood and then attach the other 11'x1'x1' piece of wood with glue to make a rectangle shaped frame. Allow the frame to dry.

    • 5). Place strings along upper corners of the frame until taut. Nail the strings onto the frame. Then glue the frame onto the open side of the cajon.

    • 6). Take the 12'x'18'x'.5 inch piece of wood and insert nails along the edges into the sides of the cajon.

    • 7). The instrument can now played by slapping the 12'x18'x'5 inch piece of wood.
