How to Open the Dash on a 2001 Kia Rio
- 1). Lift up the hood of your Rio. Remove the negative cable from the battery by loosening the bolt with a wrench and lifting the cable clear of the battery.
- 2). Enter the driver's seat of your Kia. Press in the locking tabs behind the steering wheel and lower it to its lowest possible position within the steering column. This will make it much easier to work on the dash and provide you with more room.
- 3). Pull the front face plate from around the front of the dash using your hands. Take care not to damage it as you remove it. Place it to one side as you will need to reattach it later.
- 4). Use a Phillips-head screwdriver to remove the two screws attached to the glove compartment. Pull the glove compartment away from the dash. Remove the rest of the lower dash panels to open up the bottom of the dash.
- 5). Remove the screws attached to the upper dash panels. Carefully remove the rest of the upper dash panels to completely open up the dash on your Kia Rio.
