How to Use a Buffer Polisher on a Car
- 1). Wash your car with warm water before buffing. Your paint must be completely clean before using a buffer or the buffer could scratch the paint. You can use car wash liquid or gentle dish soap. Use a clean car wash mitt or sponge to thoroughly clean your car. Rinse when you are finished.
- 2). Dry your car completely with soft, clean rags. Dirty rags will scratch the paint.
- 3). Apply a quarter-size portion of wax to a clean wax applicator pad and evenly apply the wax to a section of paint with circular motions. Reapply wax to the pad when needed. You should apply wax in a warm area out of the sun. The wax will not dry properly if it is cold. Let the wax dry until it is a hazy color, which takes about 10 minutes.
- 4). Turn on your buffer and run the buffer right to left over the dry wax beginning on the edge of the buffer then ending flat. Never leave the buffer in one place on the paint, because the buffer can burn the paint. Stop buffing once the paint is shiny and all the wax has been buffed off.
