    • 1). Take a large piece of modeling clay in your hand. Start shaping the clay into a slightly round piece, like a skeleton skull. Use your fingers to create an opening where the mouth and eyes would be.

    • 2). Roll out six long pieces of clay. These pieces will form the ribs. Lay each piece of clay flat on a flat surface and roll it back and forth until you have a worm-like roll about 12 inches long and 1/2 inch thick. Shape each rib into a half circle on the flat surface.

    • 3). Roll out four smaller worm-like shapes for the arms. You will need two for each arm. These should be around 3 or 4 inches long each. Repeat the same process to create the legs of the skeleton, but make the rolls slightly longer.

    • 4). Create two hand shapes with the clay. You may want to lay the clay flat and use a butter knife to trace around your own hands to design the skeleton hand.

    • 5). Shape the feet for the skeleton. Roll the clay out flat and use a butter knife to cut out the shape of a foot for each leg.

    • 6). Connect all the bones of the skeleton with string. Start with the head and work your way down the body to connect all the body parts. You will need to cut one long piece of string, as well as two pieces of string for the arms and two pieces of string for the legs. Use the butter knife to create holes in the bones to run the string through.

    • 7). Allow the clay to dry before painting the skeleton.

    • 8). Paint the skeleton in as many different colors as you want. Add personal touches to the skeleton, so that it can stand out and be colorful. Allow the paint to dry before using the skeleton.

    • 9). Hold the skeleton up by the string from its head and allow it to drape down. Shake the string a little to watch the skeleton dance.
