How to Build a Wooden Bicycle Stand
- 1). Attach two of your longest 2-by-4s to either side of your 1-by-6 with wood screws. The 2-by-4s should attach to the edges of the 1-by-6, forming a U-shaped piece that is 4-feet, 6-inches long.
- 2). Place the piece you just built on a flat surface so the 1-by-6 is on the bottom. Place one of the shorter 2-by-4s at either end of the U so that it is straight up. Attach these boards from the bottom of the 1-by-6 with wood screws.
- 3). Measure 6 inches from the inside edge of one of the short 2-by-4s toward the center. Mark this spot with a pencil. This is where the edge of the next 2-by-4 will be. You will have a 6-inch gap between the 2-by-4s. Place another short 2-by-4 at this location and screw in with the wood screws. Repeat for the remaining short 2-by-4s.
- 4). Place the remaining longer 2-by-4 board on top of the short 2-by-4 board and screw into place. This should connect the bike spaces and make the entire piece one unit.
