How to Buy a Copy of Windows XP
- Windows XP is an operating system created by Microsoft. It has not been sold since June 30, 2008. On October 22, 2010, you will not be able to purchase new computers that already have Windows XP installed on them. You still can legally purchase the software online though, thus ensuring you have a legal copy of Windows XP on your PC.
- Visit an authorized online retailer that sells Windows XP. This can include Amazon, NexTag and Dealtime, where you can find trusted, third-party resellers whom you can still purchase a legal copy of Windows XP from (see Resources).
- Activation of the software is required within 30 days from the time you start Windows XP. Install the software and follow the prompts to activate and register your copy of Windows XP through Microsoft to ensure that you have a legal copy on your computer.
