    • 1). Dig a hole in the soil twice the size of the tree's root ball. It's important to break up any clumps in the soil and to loosen it on the sides of the hole. This will ensure that the peach tree will grow correctly and easily in the soil.

    • 2). Place the tree into the hole and spread its roots. Fill in the hole, pressing down to push out any pockets of air. Water the tree.

    • 3). Water the tree twice a week for the first season. After its first season of growth, water once a week as needed.

    • 4). Apply fertilizer around base of the tree twice a year. However, a newly planted tree needs to be fertilized a month after it has been planted.

    • 5). Pluck the peaches to thin out the tree. There should only be peaches every 6 inches or so. If there are more, pluck off the fruit so it doesn't overload the tree branches. This will also provide you with larger peaches.

    • 6). Prune the peach tree with pruning shears, clipping away dead or broken branches. Prune any shoots that are growing up from the roots. You should only prune peach trees during the spring before any buds begin to grow.

    • 7). Apply an insecticide product to the tree during the spring and summer months. This will keep any pests away from the tree and its fruit.
