Instructions to Install a Shower Door
- 1). Measure the door opening and pick the door to fit. Showers that are combination bathtubs will need a shorter door, so be aware.
- 2). Measure the inside length of the shower opening. Mark the bottom track with a marking pen and cut the track to length using the hacksaw. Remember the edges of the bottom track will be hidden by the sides. Lay the bottom track down on the shower base where it will rest and tape it in place.
- 3). Set the side rails in place and use a level to make sure they are square. Using the pen, mark for the holes behind the rails. Most shower doors have rails that are pre-drilled so all you have to do is mark the wall through the holes with a pen. If you have to drill your own holes, use a metal bit and drill three holes along the length of the rail.
- 4). Drill holes into the wall on each side of the shower using a masonry bit of the size in the door instructions. Most anchors call for a 3/16-inch hole to be drilled. Use a tile bit for ceramic walls. Fiberglass showers can be cut with a simple wood bit. Tap the anchors into the holes so they are flush with the wall
- 5). Remove the bottom track and lay a bead of caulking along the base of the shower where the base track will sit. Check the underside of the track because some have a cavity where you can lay the bead of caulking before setting it down.
- 6). Lay the base track in place and install the side rails using the screws provided. Tighten the screws firmly, but not so much that you bend the rails. Make sure each screw grabs the wall behind it.
- 7). Measure the width of the top of the shower where the header will go. Use this measurement to cut the header with a hacksaw. Remember that you want a good tight fit, so it's okay to leave it slightly longer at first.
- 8). Screw the rollers into place on the shower doors using a screwdriver. Don't tighten them too tight because you will have to adjust their height later.
- 9). Hang the doors onto the header and make sure they are level. If they need to be adjusted, remove the doors and change the height of the rollers. There will be a small track on the door where you can loosen the rollers and move them up or down. Tighten the screws when you are finished.

Install the shower door handle and base guide with the screws provided. Slide the doors back and forth to make sure they move smoothly. - 11
Run beads of caulking along the inside and outside edges of the door. This includes the base and the rails. Allow the caulking to set according to the instructions before using the shower.
