    • 1). Disconnect the negative cable from the battery. Secure the cable so it doesn't come in contact with any metal parts.

    • 2). Slide a thin flat blade screwdriver underneath the trim above the stereo. Continue applying firm pressure until you get to the instrument panel. Locate and remove two screws, lower the steering wheel and unplug any wires attached to the trim. Remove the panel from the car to keep it out of the way.

    • 3). Locate and remove the four screws that secure the head unit and pull the stereo out of the dash. Disconnect the wires from the back of the stereo and let them hang from the dash.

    • 4). Connect the wiring harness adaptor to the original harness and slide the new head unit into the Kia radio adaptor kit. Plug the wiring harness adaptor and antenna wire into the back of the new stereo and slide the assembly into the dash.

    • 5). Reconnect the negative battery cable and turn the radio on. Test the speakers and controls to verify they are working properly. Secure the new radio into the Kia Spectra dash with the original four screws and replace the remaining trim.
