How to Maintain a Pink Bower Vine

    • 1). Place the pink bower vine in a location that receives direct rays from the sun or partial sunlight. If the vine is planted in a container, reposition it as needed throughout the year. If it is planted in the ground, cut back tree limbs and brush that may shade it by using a pruning saw or loppers.

    • 2). Insert a trellis behind the vine, if one is not already installed. Dig a trench that is 10 to 12 inches deep and bury the bottom of the trench in soil. Tightly compact the soil around the trellis by stomping in it. Tie the vine loosely to the trellis using gardening tape.

    • 3). Water the soil under the vine once per week until it is damp to a 4- or 5-inch depth. Increase watering to at least twice per week at the peak of summer and more often if the top of the soil feels dry.

    • 4). Spread a time-release pellet fertilizer around the base of the pink bower vine in the early spring using the amount specified on the package. Water the soil after application to dissolve the fertilizer. Reapply the fertilizer every two to three months, as directed by the packaging.

    • 5). Wait until the early spring before new growth resumes and prune the pink bower vine back to the desired height using hand pruners.
