A single rose bouquet makes an elegant yet simple gift for a friend or loved one. While the idea of a single rose bouquet might initially sound bland or uninteresting, there are many different stylized options to accent the rose. A single rose bouquet typically consists of other foliage to accent and complement the rose. According to wedding website The Knot, a single rose bouquet is a common gift at weddings because of the simple yet affordable beauty which it offers.

    Baby's Breath

Baby's breath is a flowering shrub that produces tiny white flowers commonly used by florists in many arrangements. The flowers are accompanied by a mass of light green foliage, which accents and complements almost any flower arrangement. When used in a single rose bouquet, baby's breath is often arranged to completely surround the rose, stopping approximately 1 inch before the top of the flower. An accenting white ribbon to tie the bouquet together will finish the look, making for a simple and classy single rose bouquet.

    Fern Leaf

Fern leaves make interesting accents to flower bouquets because of the fact that they are not traditionally used in flower arrangements. A fern leaf for a flower bouquet is typically taken from a young plant so that it stays green for an extended amount of time. When used in a single rose bouquet, the rose is typically positioned so the flower ends about 2 inches from the top of the fern leaf's foliage. The stems are bound together with a ribbon of choice, usually to match the color of the rose in the bouquet. A fern leaf rose bouquet is a cost-effective gift for weddings; some florists will even offer free or discounted fern leaves when roses are purchased in bulk.

    Lace

Adding lace accents to a single rose makes an interesting and appealing bouquet. Lace of any color or thickness can be cut to size and tied around a single rose, creating an elegant and simple backdrop. Lace should be cut into a square, slightly longer in all dimensions than the rose. Lay the square of lace diagonally on the table and place the rose horizontally across it so that the stem and flower are pointing at corners of the square. Simply roll the rose up in the lace and tie the base with a string to create an attractive single rose bouquet.
