There is an old proverb, 'Healthy body leads to healthy mind'. The saying clears one thing that health is wealth', which also is a proverb and both of them mean the same, a fit body is capable of achieving mammoth of task and would make a brain work to the optimum, where as an ailing body will succumb to the simplest of task taking along brain in depressive state.

A few decades back, sports was limited to mere hobby, barring few, no one used to see their fortune in it apart from receiving a bit of titillation. But, with the passage of time, shackles of such inhibitions started breaking, and the parents driven to education started giving motivation to their kids to pursue their dreams in field of sports.

Cricket is considered religion in India and for the same reason has got plenty of money in the sports, which is why folks also support their kids to adapt the game. Cricket has produced some of the greatest and richest players of India. Be it's little master Sunil Gavaskar or country's best allrounder so far Kapil Dev or king or master of many records Sachin Tendulkar, they have all good name, fame and money.

There was a time when Sachin was the richest cricket player in the world. He used to earn in millions per year. He had loads of sponsors lining up to sign and to get their products endorsed. Sachin was considered the back bone of the team in late 90's and during the advent of 21st century. People used switch their television to off post his departure from field.

Even today, richest sports personalities are cricketers only. Mahendra Singh Dhoni, who is the captain of our cricket team is among top 26 players of the world across all the sports in terms of earning. As per the latest report, Dhoni earns nearly 180 crore a year, which is a whooping amount

Not much behind him is young Indian superstar and next mr. reliable Virat Kohli. He's said to be earning more than 100 crore. After retirement also, legendary cricketer Tendulkar is minting well in billion, still far more than the money earned by budding players.

One thing which is common in all the scenarios is media. It's media who played and plays crucial role in highlighting and uplifting any game. Hindi news papers, especially, after the triumph of 1983, applauded and brought cricket much needed fame, which grew leaps and bound and is still going strong after the advent of format like T20 cricket.

Tv news channels, precisely Hindi ones, never let go any of the information related to cricket and display it with much of a hype, attracting many eye balls. During a cricket match many Hindi news channels run shows, comprising of many experts including many former cricketers, which in return get them good trp and viewership.

However, sans the game mentioned above, Saina Nehwal in badminton, Sania Mirza in Tennis, Abhinav Bindra in shooting and Leander Paes & Mahesh Bhupathi are some sports personalities who have not only made India proud, but have also earned great accolades and money.
