How to Replace an Infinite Switch on a Kenmore Range

    • 1). Ensure that the range's power supply is disconnected. This is accomplished by unplugging the power cord from the wall outlet or turning off the range breaker in your service panel.

    • 2). Remove the knob from the front of the infinite switch that you are replacing. To remove it, pull the knob away from the control panel housing and off the post.

    • 3). Move the range away from the wall, and then remove the upper panel on the rear of the range. The upper panel is secured using several standard screws.

    • 4). Remove the mounting screws securing the infinite switch to the control panel housing, which are located on the front of the control panel housing.

    • 5). Place the new infinite switch into the control panel housing from the rear, and then secure it into position using the screws that were removed from the front of the control panel housing.

    • 6). Pull the wires off the terminals on the old infinite switch, and then plug them onto the terminals on the new infinite switch.

    • 7). Replace the upper panel, and secure it using the screws that were removed.

    • 8). Align the hole on the rear of the burner knob with the post on the new infinite switch, and then press the knob onto the post.

    • 9). Plug the range into the wall outlet, or turn on the breaker in your home's service panel, and then move the range back against the wall.
