Red Eyed Tree Frog Facts
- Red-eyed tree frogs are mostly a very bright green color, and they have bulging bright red eyes. Their webbed feet are orange and their upper legs are blue. They also have blue and yellow markings on their bodies.
- The size of red-eyed tree frogs typically is 2 to 3 inches long, and they usually live about five years.
- Red-eyed tree frogs are nocturnal, meaning they are active at night and sleep during the day. Because of their color, they are generally safe from predators in the forest. If a predator does approach, the frog's bulging red eyes may startle the predator long enough for the frog to escape.
- Since red-eyed tree frogs live in tropical forests, anyone wanting to keep these frogs as pets will need to keep their environment very warm and humid.
- Red-eyed tree frogs like to eat insects, particularly crickets, flies, grasshoppers and moths.
