How to Prune a Little Princess
- 1). Deadhead Little Princess throughout the growing season by snipping off dead and fading flowers. Use your fingers or sharp pruning shears. Deadheading the shrub encourages it to produce new flowers.
- 2). Prune the Little Princess by first cutting out all dead and weak wood. Cut these back to a healthy branch.
- 3). Remove small twiggy stems from the middle of the Little Princess to open it up for better air circulation.
- 4). Shape the Little Princess into the form you like by cutting any branches that poke out beyond the desired form. Cut them back until they will be hidden by foliage.
- 5). Clean the soil around the Little Princess of all pruning detritus. This can become a breeding ground for pests and diseases. Rake the bed, bag the garbage and water the Little Princess until the top 6 inches of soil is wet.
