    • 1). Select a planting site for your Korean spice viburnum that is large enough to accommodate the mature size of the plant, which can range from 4 to 6 feet in height and width. This plant can grow in either part sun or full sun locations.

    • 2). Dig a hole twice as deep and wide as your plant's root ball. Remove the viburnum from its container and place it in the hole. Fill in the hole with soil. Water the ground until the soil becomes saturated and compresses around the plant.

    • 3). Water your viburnum once a week, saturating the soil each time. If you have a rainy week, you can skip watering. During hot weather, you may need to water twice a week or more. Feel the soil with your hand; if the dirt is dry and crumbly, water your plant.

    • 4). Fertilize your Korean spice viburnum each spring, before the plant begins to grow for the year. Use a general fertilizer like 10-10-10 or 20-20-20. Measure the right dose range based on the size of your plant, then apply following the directions on your fertilizer.

    • 5). Inspect your plant for signs of pests or diseases. Leaves that turn yellow or brown, or develop holes or discoloration, may have pest or disease problems. If parts of the plant die back, there is a problem. Contact a Master Gardener or your county extension program for help identifying your viburnum problem and determine a control method.
