How to Measure the Fuel Amount Out of a 55 Gallon Drum

    • 1). Take your partially empty 55-gallon drum to a metered fuel filling station. Make sure the fuel filling station's meter displays the amount of fuel you will purchase or otherwise remove.

    • 2). Insert the fuel pump nozzle into the 55-gallon drum.

    • 3). Fill the 55-gallon drum with fuel. Squeeze the trigger on the fuel pump or loosen its associated valve until the 55-gallon drum is full.

    • 4). Record the amount of fuel required to fill the 55-gallon drum. Look at the gauge or calculator on the fuel filling station's meter that indicates how much fuel has been purchased. This is the amount that was out of the 55-gallon drum.
