How to Change Props on Minn Kota Trolling Motors
- 1). First, take your pliers and reach into the center of the prop and get ahold of the plastic wing type nut the screws on to the prop shaft. It will be on there tight, so you will have to break it loose. Once it frees up, unscrew the plastic nut. Usually, you can unscrew it by hand after the initial loosening. There will be a small washer behind the nut. Make sure not to lose the washer in case your new prop doesn't have one with it!
- 2). Now, remove the pin that runs through the prop shaft. Usually, these are bent and require a gentle tap or two with a small hammer to remove. After the old pin is removed, slip the new one in its place.
- 3). Now, it's time to put on the new prop. Line the prop up so that the pin running through the prop shaft lines up with the indention on the back of the prop that keeps the prop from spinning on the shaft.
- 4). After the prop is in place, put the small washer on and screw plastic nut back on and you are back in business!
