    • 1). Park the vehicle on a level surface. Apply the parking brake from inside the cab.

    • 2). Loosen the lug nuts from one tire using a lug nut wrench.

    • 3). Place a jack under the vehicle. Refer to your owner's manual if you are not sure where the jack should be mounted. Lift the vehicle with the jack until you can see light under the tire.

    • 4). Remove the lug nuts. Remove the tire from the hub of the axle with your hands.

    • 5). Locate the shocks on the vehicle. The shock attaches at the axle and the frame. Locate the mounting bolts. Lubricate these bolts with penetrating fluid.

    • 6). Remove the bolts securing the shocks in position using a ratchet and socket. Once all the bolts have been removed, pull the shock absorber from the vehicle.

    • 7). Place the new gas shock absorber into position. Make sure the shock is installed in the same orientation as the old one.

    • 8). Install and tighten the bolts to secure the shock absorber to the vehicle using a ratchet and socket.

    • 9). Re-install the tire and lug nuts. Tighten the lug nuts using a lug nut wrench. Lower the vehicle to the ground using the jack.
