How to Control Yellow Ragwort
- 1). Mow ragwort before it buds. You can also let mature, non-lactating sheep or goats graze the ragwort before the preflowering stage, since these animals are less susceptible to ragwort poisoning. Don't mow the plant in drought conditions, since this may worsen conditions.
- 2). Put on a respirator, long sleeves and work gloves to protect your skin and lungs from herbicide.
- 3). Measure 2 lbs. per acre of herbicide for mature ragwort, or 1 lb. per acre for young ragwort. Herbicide works best on young, succulent ragweed in non-drought conditions.
- 4). Spray the herbicide on your weeds, or wipe it on to avoid killing nearby plants.
