How to Install an EGR Valve in an '86 Buick Century

    • 1). Open the hood and locate the EGR valve on the intake manifold. The manifold is mounted to the backside of the engine (depending on whether your '86 Century is a 4-cylinder or a 6-cylinder model, the manifold will have four or six tubes that are bolted to the engine block).

    • 2). Grab the end of the hose that is connected to the valve and pull it off the EGR fitting with a pair of pliers.

    • 3). Unbolt the two mounting bolts and pull the valve off the intake manifold.

    • 4). Align the mounting holes on the new valve with the mounting holes on the intake manifold.

    • 5). Thread and tighten the EGR valve mounting bolts with a socket wrench.

    • 6). Push the rubber hose back over the fitting.
