How to Install a Fuel Pump on a Ford Exp
- 1). Raise the back of the car with the floor jack, and support it safely on jack stands. Disconnect the fuel pump's electrical connector, located in the front of the fuel tank on the frame.
- 2). Crank the engine as if to start it for three seconds, which relieves the fuel pressure. Turn the key off. Disconnect the fuel lines at the fuel pump by lifting the white tab up with the screwdriver and pulling the hoses off.
- 3). Loosen the pinch bolt securing the fuel pump to the bracket, using the appropriate size socket. Lift the fuel pump out of the bracket and install the new pump in the same fashion.
- 4). Orient the fuel pump properly so the fuel line inlet and outlet are in the same position as when removed. Install the fuel lines, and while holding pressure inward, push the white tab down to lock them in place. Connect the electrical connector.
