    • 1). Remove the material from the bimini frame and lay it on a hard, flat surface. Make sure the edges of the tear are butted together.

    • 2). Cut a length of sail repair tape--using scissors or a jack knife--long and wide enough to extend 1 inch past the ends and sides of the tear. Use multiple strips of tape if necessary.

    • 3). Peel back 1/2 inch of the paper on the adhesive side of the sail repair tape. Position the 1/2 inch of exposed adhesive about 1 inch above the beginning of the tear: remember, the tape is 1 inch larger than the repair.

    • 4). Peel the paper off of the adhesive side of the tape while pressing the tape into place. Peel slowly, making sure to work the adhesive onto the fabric to avoid air bubbles. Have an assistant hold the edges of the tear so they stay butted together. Once you've peeled all the paper and pressed the tape into place, grab a rolling pin and roll it vigorously for a full minute.

    • 5). Flip the material over and repeat the process on the back side of the material.
