How to Build a PC With Windows Media Center 2005
- 1). Align the motherboard with the holes in the case and screw it into position.
- 2). Insert the Core2Duo or Corei7 processor in the CPU slot, lock it into position with the retaining lever, and mount your heatsink according to the directions that came with your specific processor.
- 3). Insert the RAM into the memory slots located next to the CPU slot. Press down firmly until each chip locks into position.
- 4). Insert your video card into the PCI-E slot near the middle of the motherboard. Screw it into position.
- 5). Screw the 250-500GB hard drive and the optical drive into the bay at the front of the case. Connect a SATA cable from the back of the drives to the motherboard.
- 6). Insert the power supply into the case and screw it into position. Connect the power leads to the case fans, motherboard, hard drive, and optical drive.
- 7). Close up the computer and start it. Insert the Media Center installation CD. Press any key when prompted to boot from CD.
- 8). Press "Enter" and "F8" to move to the installation screen. Press "C" to create a new partition. Use all of your drive space and select the NTFS file system.
- 9). Highlight the new partition and press "Enter" to install Windows XP MCE2005. Change discs when prompted to complete the install.
