How do I Insulate a Timber Frame Wall?
- 1). Unroll the insulation. If it is one continuous roll, cut each section to the height of the room. Cut the insulation by rolling it out on the floor, paper side down. Place a metal ruler over the insulation where it needs to be cut and run a work knife several times over the insulation at one edge of the ruler.
- 2). Push the insulation--paper side towards you--between the first two wall studs, starting at the top.
- 3). Staple the lips of the paper to the sides of the vertical studs every 8 inches--use a staple gun, with 1/2-inch staples. When finished with the first section, move to the next and continue until the entire room is insulated.
