    • 1). Don a pair of work gloves and pull as many mushrooms off the trees in your yard as possible. Most mushrooms will break away from the tree with ease.

    • 2). Scrape the tree trunk gently with the back of a shovel to remove the residue left behind by the mushrooms.

    • 3). Dispose of the mushrooms in the garbage so that they do not rot near the tree, causing potential further rot to the bark and trunk.

    • 4). Cut down rotting or dying trees in your yard, as mushrooms will likely grow on these trees if it isn't already happening. Grind rotting stumps to ground level with the stump grinder, and then put topsoil and grass seed over the stump remnants.
