How to Patch a Hole in Concrete
- 1). Widen the hole with a chisel. Make sure that the bottom of the hole is wider than the top.
- 2). Wet the hole for approximately an hour using the garden hose. The water will hydrate the surrounding cement and keep it from drawing the water out of the cement patch.
- 3). Clear away any excess water from around the hole. Use a wire brush to clean any dust and debris out of the hole, and make sure it is as clean as possible
- 4). Mix together the concrete mix and water to form the concrete patch. The patch should be the consistency of thick paste.
- 5). Fill the hole with the concrete patch with the trowel. Get as much of the patch in the hole as possible. Make the top of the hole even with the surrounding concrete
- 6). Let the patch dry for two hours. Once dry, cover the hole with the plastic tarp (hang with duct tape if the hole is on a wall). Keep the hole covered for five days, and thoroughly water once a day.
