How to Install a Stereo in a 1961 Cadillac

    • 1). Open the hood of the Cadillac. Locate the battery at the front corner of the Cadillac's engine compartment and disconnect the black negative terminal cable with a socket wrench.

    • 2). Remove the trim surrounding the radio with a flat-head screwdriver.

    • 3). Use a Phillips-head screwdriver to uninstall the four screws holding the stereo unit into the vehicle. Disconnect the stereo's wiring harness. Pull the old stereo out.

    • 4). Place the new stereo unit into the Cadillac and connect the wiring harness. Reinstall the four screws and reattach the trim, if necessary.

    • 5). Reconnect the negative terminal cable to the battery and close the Cadillac's hood.
