1 din or 2 din car DVD player?

My old car DVD was broken the other day, so I planned to buy a new one. I've searched for some relevant information before purchase, especially about the difference between single din and double din car DVD. I would like to share what I've known here.

The main difference is the dimension. The "din" refers to the size (or width) of car audio head units. According to a German standard, head units have two sizes: 1 din and 2 din. A single din unit has a 180 x 50mm panel, while a double one would be 180 x 100mm.

The selection of the player depends on the design of your car. It would be not wise to install a 1 din player if the size of the panel is for a 2 din model, and vice versa.

My car needs a 2 din player. However, at the beginning, I thought a 1 din model could easily be installed into the panel in my car, and then I might save some money in the purchase. Why don't I just buy a single one? What I have to do is to find something like a board to cover the empty space in the panel. It sounds like a good idea. However, after searching on the Internet, I find the price of 2 din player is not much higher than 1 din player. Then why should I take the trouble to find the broad? Thanks to the information on the internet, I haven't made the wrong choice.

With different sizes, a 2 din DVD player has more functions than a 1 din player. In addition to the player, it also comes with other accessories such as extra sound equipment or a tuner. If you want to have a trip with your family, a double din car DVD player will be very helpful.

My friends also suggest me to buy a high-end one, because many higher end players include GPS navigation system.

Besides, there are also two passages introducing 1 din and 2 din car DVD players in details. If you are interested, you can read them through the links.
