How to Change the Air Filter on a 2000 Jeep Cherokee
- 1). Allow the Cherokee to cool for a half-hour while in "Park" to prevent any potential burns while working under the hood.
- 2). Open the hood of the Jeep and locate the air filter casing. Look next to the coolant surge tank for a rectangular, black, plastic case; this is the air filter housing.
- 3). Locate the clips along the air filter casing, unclip each hook and lift up the cover. You will see the dirty air filter once the cover is lifted.
- 4). Remove the dirty air filter by sliding it out of place and discard. Clear away debris, dust or dirt that may be left in the casing with a rag.
- 5). Place the clean air filter into the casing and close the cover. Press down on each hook to ensure the cover is secured down. Close the hood of the Cherokee.
