    • 1). Place the installation disc into the tray of your computer's CD-ROM or DVD-ROM drive and restart the computer. Press any key on your keyboard when prompted to do so. This will take you to the Windows Setup screen.

    • 2). Press the "Enter" or "Return" key to set up Windows. Read the licensing agreement on the following page and agree to it by pressing the "F8" key.

    • 3). Press "Enter" or "Return" on the next screen and once more on the subsequent screen. This will select the "Unpartitioned Space" for installation and "Format the partition using the NTFS file system" options.

    • 4). Wait for your computer to prepare the hard drive for installation. This can take up to 30 minutes, so feel free to leave your computer alone and do something else during this time.

    • 5). Answer the Windows XP setup questions as you are prompted to set the language, time zone, administrator password and permissions, networking settings and other options to customize your operating system. Also, have your Windows XP Product Key handy to complete installation. If you are unsure of any of the settings, use Windows' recommended or default settings.
