How to Treat Rain Water
- 1). Strain the rain water through a coffee filter to remove any larger particles that are present in the water.
- 2). Boil the rain water in a large kettle or pot for at least two minutes to get rid of any microorganisms that are contaminating the water.
- 3). Oxygenate and cool the water by pouring it into another container, and then pouring it back into the original container a few times. Add 1/8 tsp. of unscented chlorine to every gallon of the water. Pour the water into bottles and store it for drinking once you have let it stand for a couple of hours and it has completely cooled down.
