    • 1). Open a browser. Go to the ExplorerXP, CubicExplorer or the FreeCommander sites (see Resources).

    • 2). Hit the download button or link on the site that you picked in Step 1. Download and install the software. The installation process will ask you to agree to terms of the software and where you want to save the software. You may have to restart your computer, depending on your system and the software you are installing.

    • 3). Double-click the icon that appears on your desktop. You may also find the software that you downloaded by hitting the "Start" button in the lower-left corner of the desktop, scroll up and clicking "Programs" or "All Programs." The program will be in the list that appears.

    • 4). Wait for the software to be populated with folders and files. This may take a couple of moments. You may also be required to specify how you want files and folders displayed. To change your settings, click "File" or "Tools" in the main menu bar and scroll down to "Settings."
