    • 1). Examine the tree's trunk and limbs for any area that are oozing sap. Cover these areas with a small amount of spray paint.

    • 2). Hold the flame of a propane torch against the affected area for 20 to 30 seconds, according to the University of Idaho website. This will kill the infection and prevent it from spreading. Repeat the process of cauterizing the canker by this method once a day for up to three weeks.

    • 3). Prune away any infected branches approximately 2 inches below the canker. Perform this act after the peach trees have gone to bud. After pruning, wipe down any tools used with rubbing alcohol. This will prevent the spread of the disease to any trees.
