• There is no option to choose a starting Pokemon in Pokemon Ranger. The gender of your character determines which Pokemon you receive. Male characters will receive Minun. Female characters will receive Plusle. Both are very similar looking electric-type Pokemon bearing a resemblance to Pikachu. Minun has slightly better defenses and has markings that appear to be a negative sign. Plusle has a slightly better offense and has markings that appear to be a plus sign.
  
  

Can I add more Pokemon permanently to my team?

• No, Minun or Plusle is the only Pokemon that will permanently travel with the player. The player can capture 210 different Pokemon, but none of these become permanent companions.
