How to Cut Miter Corners on Trim Molding
- 1). Measure the piece of trim and make a line on the back of your trim with your lumber crayon. Measure the outer or longer edge of the trim, rather than the edge that will receive the cut.
- 2). Place a scrap piece of wood on the bottom of the miter station. The will protect the miter box from being cut by your backsaw.
- 3). Position the trim in the miter box with its finished side up and the flat end against the back fence.
- 4). Align the appropriate angle slot with the line you drew with your lumber crayon; hold tightly against your fence with one hand, and operate the back saw with the other.
