    • 1). Turn the multimeter on. Press the button in the middle of the dial to choose between V AC, V DC, A DC and A AC, depending on the measurements that you plan on making. Hold the button down for one second if you want the meter to be in auto-range mode.

    • 2). Turn the dial on the multimeter to the voltage symbol that represents the voltage that you want to measure. You can choose between AC and DC voltage measured in either volts or milli-volts. Connect the probes to either side of the component being measured. Read the display to log the value of the voltage across the component.

    • 3). Turn the dial on the multimeter to the current symbol for either AC or DC current. Connect the probes to either side of the component being measured. Read the display to log the value of the current across the component.

    • 4). Turn the dial on the multimeter to the resistance symbol. Connect the probes to either side of the component being measured. Read the display to log the value of the resistance across the component.
