    • 1). Climb onto the roof with the help of a ladder. Make sure to check the soles of your shoes to clean them of any debris, or just wear your socks.

    • 2). Look at the skylight to locate the problem. Look for caulk damage or roof splits.

    • 3). Scrape off the damage with a putty knife, and brush up the bits with a soft-bristled brush.

    • 4). Clean the area with rubbing alcohol and a rag.

    • 5). Caulk around the skylight seam that you just cleaned up. Use a silicon caulk for this because it will withstand heat. Snip the tip off the caulk tube or push a nail into the tip to open it. Apply at an angle and run a continuous bead of caulk.

    • 6). Let dry for one full day.

    • 7). Coat the roof with a rubber roof coating. Contact an RV dealer or your manufacturer to find out which kind of coating to use on your RV.

    • 8). Fill any cracks in the rubber roof near the skylight with a thin bead of caulk and smooth out with your finger. These cracks or holes could also be the cause of the leak. Coat with the same rubber roof coating once it dries.
