How to Change an L108 John Deere Fuel Filter

    • 1). Open the fuel tank to relieve residual fuel pressure in the fuel system. Open the engine cover by tilting it forward over the front of the L108.

    • 2). Place a drain pan beneath the mower, underneath the fuel filter. Remove the clamps from the fuel filter with a Philips screwdriver.

    • 3). Pull one end of the filter loose from the fuel line and set the open end downward toward your drain pan. Allow the filter to drain for about 1 minute into the pan. Remove the filter from the L108 completely, and set it in your drain pan.

    • 4). Install the new fuel filter, with the directional arrow pointing forward on the mower. Push the two ends of the filter into the fuel lines. Attach the clamps to the filter ends, and tighten them snug with Phillips screwdriver.

    • 5). Turn the key on the L108 to the setting where the lights come on, but do not start the mower. This will activate the fuel pump to prime the new filter with fuel. Turn the key back off. Repeat this process three times. Turn on the engine to make sure you get a good start, and that the engine runs properly, after you have primed the fuel system three times.
