How to Stop Limestone Tiles From Flaking
- 1). Clean the limestone tiles thoroughly with a cleaner recommended by your retailer or tile manufacturer, and allow them to dry thoroughly. Avoid using cleaners that are not specially formulated for stone cleaning, as they may dull the surface.
- 2). Put on gloves. Apply the sealer evenly with a soft cloth, working in one small area at a time. Allow the sealer to dry for the length of time recommended in the directions. Once the sealer is completely dry, apply a second coat. When the second coat dries, sprinkle a little water on the stone. If the water beads on the surface, the tile is properly sealed.
- 3). Using a clean, soft cloth, buff the tiles to remove excess sealer and to produce a nice sheen on the limestone.
